Statement on the tragedy at the Berlin Christopher Street Day

We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred during Berlin’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebrations, and extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life. We also hold in our thoughts everyone who was injured, traumatized, and affected by this devastating act. 

We stand alongside Berlin’s LGBTQIA+ community, Berlin CSD organizers, volunteers, first responders, and all those who have responded with courage, compassion, and care during this difficult time.

Pride declaration that 2SLGBTQIA+ people deserve to live openly, safely, and with dignity. It is a space for community, joy, resistance, and hope. No one should ever have to fear for their safety simply because they gathered to celebrate who they are.

As Pride organizations around the world, we are connected by shared values of inclusion, human rights, and collective care. We join communities across the globe in mourning, and reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where everyone can gather in safety and belonging.

We find strength in one another. We care for one another. We stand together against hate, violence, and fear. Community is not only how we celebrate, it is how we endure, heal, and continue moving forward together.

Violence will never diminish our resolve. Our movement has always been sustained by solidarity, resilience, and love. Those values continue to guide us forward.
