Kelowna Pride Society Stands Firm Against Hate: Speaking Out on Sean Feucht’s Planned West Kelowna Appearance

Kelowna, BC — July 29, 2025 — The Kelowna Pride Society (KPS), the largest 2SLGBTQIA+ organization in the BC Interior, today issues a formal statement opposing the upcoming performance by Christian nationalist musician Sean Feucht, scheduled for August 23, 2025, at Memorial Park’s Annette Beaudreau Amphitheatre in West Kelowna.

Sean Feucht is widely recognized for his vocal opposition to queer rights, abortion rights, and “gender ideology,” and has gained national and international controversy for aligning with far‑right political movements, specifically aligned with MAGA.

While the City of West Kelowna has confirmed that this is a privately booked event and not part of municipal programming, and that it has received over 20 letters of public concern, KPS urges local authorities and community members to consider the broader implications of platforming an individual whose rhetoric has repeatedly targeted the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

About the Kelowna Pride Society

Kelowna Pride is a not‑for‑profit organization founded in its current form in 2004, though its roots trace back over 25 years as a central voice for 2SLGBTQIA+  rights in the Okanagan region. Our mission is to uplift dignity, equality, and self‑determination through education, advocacy, and celebratory events, including Kelowna Pride Month 2025, which ran from May 30–June 30, under the theme "Rise and Resist"

 Our Position

  • Dissenting Platforming of HateThe Kelowna Pride Society cannot condone the use of public space to elevate a speaker known for spreading messages that undermine the rights and well‑being of 2SLGBTQIA+ people.

  • Public Safety & Community IntegrityCities across Canada—including in Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Moncton, and Quebec City—have revoked permits for Sean Feucht’s events due to safety concerns and public backlash. We support local officials in West Kelowna to carefully consider whether hosting this event aligns with community values and safety.

  • Solidarity with Marginalized CommunitiesKelowna Pride stands in firm solidarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ community members in West Kelowna and across the Okanagan, committed to ensuring all public spaces remain welcoming and affirming.

Yours in solidarity,

Kelowna Pride Society Board of Directors
